Anna Castle Holds Workshop Sept. 13

On September 13, at 2 p.m., mystery novelist Anna Castle, author of the Francis Bacon series, will conduct a fun, informative workshop on formatting and blurb writing at the Sisters in Crime: Heart of Texas chapter meeting at the Yarborough Public Library. Bring your notebooks. Bring your pencils. Bring your questions.

Anna Castle is also in charge of the Sisters in Crime: Heart of Texas chapter’s booth at the Texas Book Festival, which will be held October 17-18. Our chapter has received a grant from national Sisters in Crime to defray expenses.

So far, there are twelve authors signed up to work the booth, which is enough to cover both days, but there’s still plenty of room for more. We need to set up by 10:00 a.m. Saturday, Oct. 17, and break down at 5:00 p.m. Sunday, Oct. 18. When you come to our meeting on September 13, please speak to Ms. Castle if you’d like to volunteer to help out.

Jesse Sublett Sings and Speaks Oct. 11

Jesse SublettAuthor Jesse Sublett will be our guest speaker at Sisters in Crime: Heart of Texas chapter’s 2 p.m. meeting, Sunday, October 11, at the Yarborough Public Library. He will play guitar, sing songs, and talk to us about gangsters in Austin, among other things. He will discuss how he came to write 1960s Austin Gangsters and will discuss his memoir, Never the Same Again – A Rock & Roll Gothic.

Picking, singing, and gangsters. It doesn’t get any better than this.
